SIGHT 016: GEZAULOLE
Gezaulole means, try and see; is situated on the coast south of Dar es Salaam 30 minutes drive. It is a steeped in history where in 16th century the Arab settlers came and used the convenient location of the village to Cary out their trade. The village thus became a destination for caravan carrying ivory, hides and slaves who would be shipped to Zanzibar and beyond. To do; Dhow trip to Sinda, history of old Arab settlement with mosques and graves of 4 centuries, history of the first Ujamaa village policy, village life and handcrafts, fishermen’s life and beautiful beaches. 1 to 2 days is enough to explore this sight, accommodation in hotels in Dar. |
