SIGHT 09: USAMBARA MOUNTAINS

These sights, West and East Usambara Mountains nicknamed small Switzerland; why? Because of the mountain range and weather looks the same, although there is no snow in Usambaras but the sights are cold. Those who live or been to Switzerland will experience it and enjoy staying in Usambaras. The cool and green mountains attracted early European missionaries who built many churches in West Usambara and also Usambara is where Cultural tourism program in Tanzania started. To Do; walking to view points on the edge of the mountains, walk thru dense natural forests and small tumbling rivers, visit irrigation and soil conservation projects and farms. 3 to 6 days is ok to explore the West Usambara-Lushoto and 2 to 4 days on East Usambara-Amani Forest Reserve, accommodation; Mini hotels and campsites.

SIGHT 010:SOUTH PARE MOUNTAINS

This sight is located approx. 4 hrs drive from Arusha town via Moshi/ Kilimanjaro on the Mbaga hills at Manka the center of this sights. To Do; A visit to the historical Malamen Rock where children were sacrificed to gods to appeal evil spirits, trekking, and walking to Shengena mountain thru Chome forest reserve, Tona moor-land and Ranz-dam. At the shores of the hills is Mkomazi game reserve and in this sight, some botanical species clarified as unique in the world.

3 to 6 days will be enough to explore the area and accommodation in mini hotel and budget campsites.
