This Park is the second largest park in Tanzania next to Serengeti covering an area of 10,300sq. And is located 10 hours drive of 1-hour flight from Dar es Salaam. This park is also the second largest elephant sanctuary in the country about 8000 resident elephant next to Selous that resides almost 70,000 elephants. The park drives its name from the great Ruaha River that flows thru the Rift Valley. It has a mood of its own – a rugged, remote, almost spiritual quality embodied by bulbous silhouettes of ancient baobabs that haunt. Its semi-arid plains and rack slopes. Wildlife: It is also home to kudus, gazelles, ostrich, cheetah, lion, leopard, Roan and Sable antelopes Crocodile and hippos. Birds: Eurasia Migrants birds do visit the park twice a year to join other resident birds of about 370 species recorded.
