Pandemic Outbreak Covid-19

Pandemic out Break Covid-19, Our thoughts and prayers go out to every one affected by the COVID-19 outbreak. We all need to stand together by being apart in this crisis. When we have come through this rough patch nature and wildlife will still be there for us to enjoy, cherish and protect when we again can arrange safaris for you.

We have had the pleasure of sharing beautiful East Africa with so many people and the Savannah can teach us a lot, also in this dire times where we need to take extra precautions to protect ourselves and our loved ones:

1. Wash your hands frequently. Pretend your fingers are 10 hippos by the break of dawn, rushing to the water to wash the soil away from the nightly grass feast. Only hippos don’t use soap. Do use soap.

2. Maintain social distance. The giraffes have developed the perfect social distance tool: the long neck. It keeps them in safe distance from catching the virus from the zebras and wildebeests. Do like the giraffe, keep at least 1 meter (3 feet) distance.

3. Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth. Where an elephant is entitled to stick its nose in every thing, you are not. Avoid touching your face as the virus can enter through eyes, nose or mouth.

4. Practice respiratory hygiene. The African wild dogs express their opinions in the pack by sneezing or making “audible rapid nasal exhalations”. Cute, but let’s stick to raising a hand or casting a ballot and sneeze in your bent elbow or a tissue when the urge comes over you.

5. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care. However much we love the wild and raw nature, humans have developed a society with medically trained personnel. Please stay safe and follow the directions of your local health authority.

6. Stay informed and follow advice given by your healthcare provider.

Gofan Safaris urges you to read up on WHO’s guidelines on their website and follow public guidelines at all times.

We will get through this and the Savannah is still here even if we humans take a time out. Stay home and stay safe.
